New title and new Facebook!

Sun Jan 11, 2009, 6:25 PM
Hello all.

Okay, I researched the entireity of compiled human knowledge, known commonly as "Wikipedia", for the past week or so, interspersed with work on the actual meat of my current project (New Project, Distance/Proximity, what have you) and think I've come up with the final title for the whole thing. From two hand-scrawled pages of notes, concepts (and words that just sounded cool together), and countless hours of reading about astronomy, astrology, religion, mythology, "parody religion", new wave music, the music of the spheres, transhumanism, posthumanism, and humanism in general has emerged the title... "Spacepunk Stereogemini". I think it fits what I'm working on quite well, very all-encompassing of the content I'm trying to include, which is what I wanted, but still weird and catchy at the same time so people will remember it. And I like the alliteration.

Of course, I don't expect anyone else to really care about this, as no one will be able to judge the fittingness of the title until I at least get the script done for the first chapter, but it kept me busy and was a nice "macro" thinking distraction when I got frustrated with the "micro" of trying to find a particular character's voice or how a particular exchange of dialogue should go in the synopsis.

Synopsis, yes, that's another thing. I hadn't quite known what to call the step I'm on in the creative process for Spacepunk Stereogemini. I knew there was a word for it - it's not an outline, I already have one of those that I'm working from, and it's not as advanced as a script, as I'm not writing final dialogue or concerning myself with how much goes in each panel and how many panels go on a page. It's sort of an extremely detailed description of everything that's happening with some non-final "guide" dialogue in parts that are mostly talking and hence propelled by the content of said dialogue. Then I happened upon a bunch of sheets labeled "Issue One Synopsis" that I'd done for Pizza Girls a few years back that were pretty much the same animal I'm currently ensnarled with. So, Spacepunk Stereogemini synopsis. That's almost too much alliteration.

In addition, I signed up for Facebook today. Anyone who'd like can "poke" me or whatever there.
Here's a link: [link] or just look for Jeffrey Richard Borneman in Baltimore. I'd imagine I'm the only one.

That is all for now. Mughi, out!

As lead rains, will pass on through our phantoms
Forever, forever
Like scarecrows that fuel this flame we're burning
Forever, and ever
Know how much I want to show you you're the only one
Like a bed of roses there's a dozen reasons in this gun
Hey bud, got you featured on :icondoodah: page.

Cheers!

No disrespect for whoever that is, but you'll have to explain to me why that's a big deal.

I see you there, I see me (with old art featured that I don't like anymore and should probably take down), yet it's not clear to me why I should care. Maybe I'm not up on the whole deviant art thing.

Thanks for the effort, anyway. Good looking out.

Well, its not a huge deal persay, but its certainly nice to get spotlighted. If your featured on someone who's as popular as this person, that means that a whole lot of people that watch him are going to check out your art and that's generally a good thing.

Okay. I'll be good and say rah-rah, I love random French artist guy... but I really don't see anyone that likes what he draws liking anything that I draw, so I still fail to see the point. Especially considering we were "spotlighted" way down a huge column of other random dummies, and Frenchie picked three of my least favorite old pieces to put tiny little thumbnails up of.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I still don't get how it's going to help us.

The more I see of what you have to do to be a "popular" "anime-style" artist, the less I want to have anything to do with it.

Again, maybe I'm stupid.

Its social networking. It just takes one piece to get out virally and make the front page before you become a quasi Deviant Art celebrity. It kinda sucks to have to do all this crap to get a few watches but eventually, you'll have a bunch of people that want to check out your art on a daily basis. Makes it a bit more rewarding when you do a piece and 50 people check it out.
